International Driving Permit is a document that allows an individual to drive a private vehicle in another country; under the international motor traffic Convention on Road Traffic of 1949, it is slightly larger than a standard passport and it is complete with one’s photographs and other statistical data.

Before you can obtain a valid International Driving Permit in Nigeria you MUST also have your local driving license issued by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) first before you can get the International Permit.

The processing is quite faster than the Nigeria driving license which takes about 1 to 2 months before you could able to get it.

The processing takes 2 to 3 working days

The validity of Nigeria’s international Driving permit is not more than 1year as at the time of writing this post compared to the Nigeria Driving license that has about 5years validity.

It has international recognition which means it can be used all over the country you might find yourself. 

Having the Nigeria International Driving Permit is a great advantage when you travel overseas as it can help you find a job as a Professional Driver or simply use it for personal convenience.

The requirement for the permit is 

1. Copy of Nigeria driving license
2. Passport Photograph

It can be obtained with or without your presence whether you are available in the country or not. It can be done and sent across to you wherever you are in the world compared to the Nigeria driving permit that needs your presence for capturing and other processing. Anyone from any nationality who has lived or lives in Nigeria for more than 30 days is eligible to get the permit
